Oakland A’s pitcher Trevor Gott has a fully torn ulnar collateral ligament and will require Tommy John surgery, reports Martín Gallegos of MLB.com.
The right-hander signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the A’s this offseason that included appearance-based bonuses that he won’t be able to cash in on now. The eight-year veteran had been expected to be a part of Oakland’s bullpen this season.

The Mets acquired Gott from the Mariners last July and in 34 appearances for New York, he posted a 4.34 ERA in 29 innings.
The Mets could have kept Gott after 2023 through arbitration, but they instead elected to non-tender him. The 31-year-old later signed with Oakland.
Gott has also played with the Los Angeles Angels, Washington Nationals, San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers and has a career 4.65 ERA in 243 2/3 innings.
