“Books and Brews” book fair returns

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – In its fourth year, Snowbound Books has teamed up with The Ore Dock Brewery for “Books and Brews”, a book fair that encourages reading for all ages. Book lovers lined up before the doors even opened to get a first shot at all the new releases on sale, and maybe find a new favorite author. Independent bookstores like Snowbound Books in Marquette are the perfect place to explore new authors and storylines and also get expert advice from the staff which curates each and every book in the store and then can recommend something just for you. Owner Dana Welshans says that the book fair gets bigger every year, which is a testament to how important books and reading are to people.

“During the pandemic, we discovered how important reading was to everybody.” Said Welshans. “Our customers all supported us incredibly well during the pandemic and we realized that most of them consider reading an essential part of their lives. This books and brews event that we’re doing here today, it gets bigger every time we do it. We have more people. Today at one o’clock when I started, the place was packed, and I didn’t know a single person in there and it was awesome because it’s all new. faces to us. And yeah, new readers, and we’re excited about that.”

Welshans went on to say that more and more young adults are getting into books now more than ever. She says that the love of books is universal and becoming increasingly popularized by younger readers.
