ROME — The Wednesday Morning Club concluded its 131st year with a closing reception on March 20 at the Delta Lake Inn.
The Wednesday Morning Club was established in 1892 with the goal of educating its members in topics related to art, literature and current affairs.
Outgoing WMC President Mary Anne Kenny welcomed attending members, recognizing the officers, committees and members for their wholehearted support and active participation for the past two years. Kenny then introduced the incoming president Joan Lomery.
Following the luncheon, Lomery introduced the new slate of officers for 2024-25: Barbara Rapke, first vice president; Sheila Waters, second vice president; Glenda Alvarez, secretary; Karen Fontana, assistant secretary; Lynn DiBari, treasurer; and Kathleen Olney, assistant treasurer.
Also introduced for the club’s 132nd year were the new Program Committee Chairs: Diane Butcher, general chair; Roseanne Mastrangelo, art; Cynthia DelPiano, current topics; Carla Till, health & fitness; Kathy Cania, literature; and Susan Abreu, music.
The luncheon included entertainment by renowned local musician Gary Johnson. He is the former lead singer of the CNY band Dashboard Nixon. Engaging his audience with their texted song requests, Johnson delivered a wide range of pop/rock songs.
The luncheon committee co-chairs for this event were Barbara Jalbert, Sandra Morris and Linda Petrie.
