Sun Cities softball families recently joined together for the Angels in the Outfield food drive.

Sun City and Sun City West softball clubs participated in this annual event, where participants take part in two food drives during the softball season to help benefit the Valley View Community Food Bank, 10771 W. Peoria Ave.

Food bank founder and president Jesse Ramirez dropped off containers and picked up the donations after an event in Sun City, while the Sun City West Angels committee delivered all Liberty Field donations to two Valley View locations in Sun City West.

Chaired by Donna Laufer of Angels in the Outfield, and several committee Angels and volunteers, 40 members put in more than 100 hours to make a successful event.

The total donations amounted to $6,155 in food value and cash.

The purpose of Angels in the Outfield is to support league members, their immediate family and the community by communicating expressed physical and emotional needs.
