Having financial trouble?

Looking to raise your credit score?

Help is on the way.

Macomb Community Action, in partnership with Michigan State University Extension and Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM), will be offering free and low-cost financial assistance materials and financial workshops as part of Show Me the Money Day.

The county’s event on April 12 is held during tax season to promote opportunities to increase income, as well as how to save and build assets. Similar events will be hosted by community organizations across Michigan.

“We help host this event every year because it’s an opportunity for people to learn important life skills,” said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, in a news release. “Individuals and families of every age are welcome to attend and hear from our experts, who can provide assistance when it comes to strategies for saving and spending in a number of areas.”

Macomb Community Action’s free event takes place at the Max Thompson Community Center at 11370 Hupp Ave., in Warren from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on April 12.  Workshops include: Shopping on a budget and meal planning, predatory loans, energy conservation, establishing and maintaining your credit score, and more.

Guests will also enjoy a variety of vendors and giveaways.
