JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Jackson man was found guilty of beating his former girlfriend while she was pregnant.

Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens announced Lonzell Williams was found guilty of aggravated assault after a week-long trial.

The incident happened on November 11, 2019, in the 1000 block of I-20 Frontage Road in Jackson.

When Jackson police arrived at the location, they discovered 24-year-old Brandi Breland with multiple injuries to her face and body. She told officers that Williams struck her with a putty knife and a metal pipe.

At the time of the incident, Owens said Breland was pregnant with Williams’ child. She was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Williams faces up to 20 years in prison in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). His sentencing has been scheduled for April 15, 2024.
