POLICE: Dunkin' employee chases, shoots at customer after refund request leads to argument

UNION COUNTY, N.C. (WKRC) - A Dunkin' Donuts employee shot at a customer after a refund request led to an argument.

According to WCNC, citing police, 18-year-old Ricky Miller was working at a Dunkin' Donuts in Union County, North Carolina when he and a customer got into an argument over a refund request. Per the outlet, the customer left the store and Miller allegedly followed.

Deputies told the outlet that Miller was seen driving on the wrong side of the road beside the customer before reportedly pulling a gun and opening fire on their truck. Per WCNC, the customer wasn't hurt in the alleged shooting.

Authorities located Miller and attempted to pull him over, but the 18-year-old allegedly sped off, according to the outlet, which reported that Miller later crashed in a field and was taken into custody.

Per WCNC, Miller was charged with the following:

  • Discharging a firearm in to an occupied dwelling
  • Felony flee to elude arrest
  • Possessing a firearm with an altered serial number

The 18-year-old was given a $4,000 bond, according to the station. Dunkin Donuts confirmed to WCNC's reporters that Miller is no longer an employee and that it is cooperating with police.
