Three members of the Bismarck Public School Board are seeking additional terms, they announced Tuesday.
Dan Eastgate and Donnell Preskey, who were elected in 2020 to four-year terms, are running for reelection. Amanda Peterson, who was appointed in 2023 to fill a vacancy, is running for an unexpired two-year term. They comprise a majority of the five-person board; the other two board members are up for reelection in 2026.
Eastgate and Preskey were part of the selection process for the district's current superintendent, which took place in February 2023. Peterson was appointed to the board later that month after Emily Eckroth stepped down following a late-2022 run-in with police. Peterson had previously run for a school board position in 2022, and had lost to Eckroth by just one vote at the time.
Eastgate, a Realtor, is the current board president and a member of the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber/EDC Board of Directors. He is an announcer for high school sporting events and part of the South Central High School Community Advisory Board.
