Before the Six O'Clock Show, Katja had appeared as a guest host on Ireland AM since 2022.

Katja has now told how she never expected her career to take off so quickly after being offered a permanent position to host alongside Brian Dowling.

The 27-year-old confessed that she never even put herself forward for the position on the Six O'Clock Show as she thought she would be sticking with Ireland AM.

Speaking to RSVP Magazine, the Irish star said: "It wasn’t even a thing. When I heard Karen was stepping back, I didn’t assume anything. I was on Ireland AM for about a year at that point and just assumed I’d keep going on there.

"The bosses at Virgin Media saw a certain potential in me and wanted to nurture it and they saw me in the position sitting next to Brian.

“Honestly, I have to thank them because it has worked out so well, I get on so well with Brian."

"It suits my personality a lot more. I was delighted to have gotten the Six O’Clock Show gig.”

The Dublin beauty also announced her gig on Dancing With The Stars just days after her Six O'Clock role.

However, Katja explained that she had "known about Dancing with the Stars" when she was still working on Ireland AM.

She humorously added: "The news about Six happened later on in the year, but the announcements came about at the same time so I think for everyone maybe thought I was having a really good week that week! But the decisions came at all different times."

And the popular host was delighted after making it to the quarter finals on DWTS this year.

Katja was unfortunately eliminated in week nine after facing the dreaded dance-off against Blu Hydrangea.

The Irish presenter and her pro partner Ervinas Merfeldas had performed the salsa to Dua Lipa's Levitating for their final dance.

Speaking after the judges voted her out, she said: "I kind of feel numb right now but I just have to say thank you to everyone involved in Dancing With The Stars.

"It's been the most incredible journey. I think I surprised myself with how long I've lasted. It's a memory I won't forget."
