Wisin and Yandel accused of plagiarism in Panama

Even though Wisin and Yandel were applauded by their fans during their concert last Thursday in Panama City –where they made everyone dance– the Reggaetón duo has been accused by a Panamanian songwriter of plagiarizing one of his songs.

Mexican news agency Notimex reported that when 28-year-old Wisin and 29-year-old Yandel arrived at the airport in Panama City, they were greeted by a copyright's prosecutor. The officer handed them a notice stating that singer Fernando Brown, better known there as the father of Reggaetón, had accused them of plagiarizing part of his song “Enfermo de amor” and had filed a lawsuit against them.

Local media reported that the singers of “Sexy movimiento” signed the notice in order to be able to perform at the Figali Convention Center in Panama City, but this does not mean they claim responsibility for the alleged plagiarism. A source close to the singers told Peopleenespanol.com that the song that started the feud belonged to Don Omar's repertoire and Wisin and Yandel only performed it because Don Omar asked them to. So far none of the artists involved have issued official statements.
