Idomeneo: Why you should never make a deal with Neptune

We’ve all looked to the heavens in a moment of panic and made a deal with whoever is up there to get out of a pickle that we’re in. Mozart must've known that feeling when he wrote the opera Idomeneo at the age of 25.

Tenor Michael Schade is playing the King of Crete and making his debut with Opera Australia for their latest offering of Idomeneo which begins with the King of Crete making a vow to Neptune that if he saves his ship and his men, he will sacrifice the first human life he encounters on land.

The deal goes downhill from there...

Guest: Michael Schade, Tenor Opera Singer
