Comedian Jimmy Kimmel returned to host the Academy Awards for the fourth time, and his opening monologue had plenty of great jokes about the nominees and other ongoings in the movie business.
His monologue touched on the Barbie snubs, the recent box office disaster Madame Web and the Hollywood strikes that shut down a good bit of Hollywood in 2023.
Kimmel also had a spirited back-and-forth with Robert Downey Jr. and thanked all the hard-working crew members who help bring the Oscars to live behind the scenes. It was a really solid monologue that helped show why Kimmel is a fairly consistent host for the Academy Awards.
