Sykesville’s A Likely Story Bookstore brought author Stephanie Dray to Carroll County Public Library’s Exploration Commons in Westminster Thursday for a talk about her latest novel, “Becoming Madam Secretary,” a dramatic interpretation of the life of Frances Perkins, the first woman to serve in a presidential cabinet. Perkins was an advocate for workers rights in the 1930s and 1940s who served as the fourth U.S. Secretary of Labor under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
