ORLANDO, Fla. — The Pittsburgh Steelers have found their third quarterback as well as another depth piece for the defensive line.

General manager Omar Khan announced Monday afternoon at the NFL annual meeting that the Steelers have agreed to contracts with quarterback Kyle Allen and defensive end Dean Lowry.

Allen, a seventh-year veteran, is joining his fifth organization. He spent 2023 with the Buffalo Bills while backing up franchise quarterback Josh Allen.

Kyle Allen previously was employed by Carolina, Washington and Houston. He becomes the third veteran quarterback added by the Steelers since the end of the season, joining Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. The deal lessens the chances of the Steelers using a late-round draft pick on a developmental quarterback.

Allen appeared in seven games last year as a reserve, and he is 7-12 in 19 career starts, most of which came with Carolina in 2019.

Lowry, who is entering his ninth season, spent his first seven years with the Green Bay Packers before joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2023. Because of a season-ending pectoral tear, Lowry was limited to nine games and four starts for the Vikings in the first year of a two-year, $8.5 million contract. He was released March 12.

Earlier in the day, Khan agreed to a one-year deal with free agent wide receiver Quez Watkins.
