Charleston’s Ranky Tanky band won its second Grammy Sunday night [watch] as it captured Best Regional Roots Music Album for its Live at the 2022 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival recording. The band includes three graduates from the College of Charleston. The Charleston group won its first Grammy in 2020 in the same category. See a list of all winners.

Dems switch first presidential primary to S.C. for 2024. Upending presidential tradition, the Democratic National Committee on Saturday approved sweeping primary changes that would see the first primary to be Feb. 3, 2024, in South Carolina. In state political news, a four-person group of Democrats will challenge to run the state party. Meanwhile, former Vice President Mike Pence will be in North Charleston today.
Prosecutors want maid’s son to testify before jury in Murdaugh case. Prosecutors want the son of a housekeeper to testify in the double murder trial of disgraced lawyer Alex Murdaugh about how he promised to take care of his family after she died in a fall in 2018. Instead, they say, he stole millions. Friday’s testimony was outside of hearing by the jury as the judge considers whether to allow it. More of what’s happening in the Murdaugh case.
