Te Slaa, a multi-sport star at Boyden-Hull, has appeared in 15 games this season as a sophomore. He likely won't see much playing time vs. the Cyclones; Te Slaa hasn't played more than five minutes in a game since Jan. 6 vs. Montana State.

Iowa State found out its NCAA Tournament path Sunday night, and familiar faces stand in the team's way.

Iowa State vs. South Dakota State basketball series history

The Cyclones hold a 5-2 edge in the all-time series, but South Dakota State has won each of the last two.

Iowa State won the first game, 70-47, way back in 1952. The Cyclones won the next four between 1958 and 1985.

SDSU pulled an upset in 2008 at Hilton Coliseum, winning 65-58. Craig Brackins led ISU with 18 points.

South Dakota State then won again at Hilton in 2020, knocking off the Cyclones 71-68 in coach Steve Prohm's final season.

Reunion for coach T.J. Otzelberger

Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger got his first Division I head coaching job at South Dakota State.

Otzelberger, who had long been an assistant coach at the Division I level, left coach Steve Prohm's staff at Iowa State after the 2015-16 season to take the head coaching position with SDSU.
