Representative Jared Moskowitz, a Florida Democrat, has become pretty good at trolling Republicans, especially those who are leading the committee on an inquiry into the possible impeachment of President Joe Biden.
Hours after Moskowitz wore a Vladimir Putin mask to Wednesday’s explosive session, he called the GOP lawmakers’ bluff in what he called a “fake” and “faux” investigation.
In a back-and-forth with House Oversight and Accountability Committee chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Moskowitz told the GOP to stop wasting Congress’ time and taxpayers’ money and call the vote to impeach.
“Let’s just do it,” Moskowitz said. “Why aren’t you guys calling for the vote in your committee? When is it going to happen?”

When Jordan insisted the committee would not be rushed, even after more than a year of hearings, Moskowitz told him to hurry because “you guys only have six more months probably in power right until the election.” He then offered to help.
“The chairman knows me well. I mean, I’m just here to help him, right?” Moskowitz said. “And so I just think we should do it today. Let’s just call for it. I’ll make the motion, Mr. Chairman, I want to help you out. You can second it. Right? I make the motion to impeach the President. Now, it’s your turn. You second.”
There was no response from Comer or Jordan.
“No? Nothing? OK, we got nothing,” Moskowitz said. “So I want to, with my last couple of minutes, show the American people that they’re never going to impeach Joe Biden. It’s never going to happen, because they don’t have the evidence.
“This is a show. It’s all fake. They just want to do these hearings. It’s not leading to impeachment. They’re lying to their base on Newsmax and Fox, leading these people that believe that they’re going to eventually impeach the President. It’s not going to happen at all, ever. period. They don’t even have the votes. Even if they had them in committee, they don’t have the votes on the floor [of the full house]. They know that.”
While Comer and Jordan claim to have evidence of wrongdoing by Biden, they have yet to call for a vote on the impeachment and, when pressed by Democrats, have not been able to name a specific crime that Biden allegedly has committed.
“The scam is simple,” Comer said. “The Biden family promises they can make a foreign partner’s problems go away by engaging the U.S. government.”
But the top Democrat on the committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, said the hearing represented another failure of the impeachment inquiry. He said every GOP witness, including two more on Wednesday, failed to describe or provide evidence of any presidential wrongdoing.
“With any luck, today marks the end of perhaps the most spectacular failure in the history of congressional investigations, the effort to find a high crime or misdemeanor committed by Joe Biden and then impeach him for it,” Raskin said. “The comedy of errors comes crashing to an end.”
When reporters asked Moskowitz about the Putin mask, the congressman imitated Russian president: “I just came to thank James Comer for taking all of our intelligence and using it in the committee.”
