'Quite the accomplishment': Joe Biden jabs Donald Trump over post about golf trophies

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden teased ex-President Donald Trump after his 2024 opponent posted about winning golf championship trophies over the weekend.

The former president on Sunday shared a post on Truth Social saying he had won two awards at his golf club in Palm Beach, Florida.

“A large and golfing talented membership, a GREAT and difficult course, made the play very exciting. The qualifying and match play was amazing. A large and distinguished group will be there tonight. Very exciting,  thank you!!!” Trump added.

“Congratulations, Donald. Quite the accomplishment,” Biden sarcastically wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, including a screenshot of Trump's post.

Both Biden and Trump have clinched their respective party’s presidential nomination, setting them on a path for a grueling 2020 election rematch. And their jabs targeting each other have only increased in recent weeks.

Biden, for example, went after his "predecessor" during his State of the Union address earlier this month, calling Trump out on everything from Russia policy to abortion, taxes and the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the U.S. Capitol. Meanwhile, Trump responded during the speech, launching attacks on Biden's policy promises (and delivery.)

A USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll conducted earlier this month found that 40% of survey respondents would vote for Trump while 38% would vote for Biden as November's general election approaches.
