WEST CARROLL PARISH, La. (KTVE/KARD)– On February 20, 2024, the West Carrol Sheriff’s Office received a complaint in reference to a missing person. According to authorities, it was reported that 23-year-old Alyisha Brewer had been allegedly picked up from or near a residence on Highway 589 the day before.
It was also reported that Brewer allegedly abandoned her 8-month-old child at the residence on Highway 589. According to deputies, they began to search for Brewer on February 21, 2024, at approximately 9:30 PM. The WCSO Deputies and OGPD Officers located Brewer inside the city limits of Oak Grove and DCFS was notified and took custody of the 8-month-old little girl from the residence on Highway 589.
According to reports, it was established that the family where the child was left behind, were not relatives to Brewer. It was also learned that Brewer allegedly put some clothes in a backpack and left the child at the residence, with intentions of finding a ride back to Mississippi and leaving the child with hopes that someone would take care of her.
According to authorities, Brewer allegedly stated in the interview that she had no intentions of returning for her child. Brewer was arrested for Child Desertion and booked into the West Carroll Jail.
