NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Navy sailor could face life in prison for attempting to arrange sex with a minor.

Court documents show that on Jan. 17, Petty Officer First Class Vicente Muniz, Jr., 35, used social media to contact who he believed was the father of a 10-year-old child to arrange a meeting. During this meeting, Muniz planned to engage in sex acts with the minor.

Muniz said he was supposed to meet another child that day, but the child stopped responding.

Later that day, Muniz tried to meet with the parent and 10-year-old and was arrested by law enforcement.

Muniz pleaded guilty to attempting to persuade, induce, entice and coerce a minor to engage in sexual activity.
