Watch Ray Parker Jr., Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson perform “Ghostbusters” theme song with classroom instruments

Even Slimer makes a cameo!

Jimmy Fallon and the Roots knew exactly who to call when it came time to perform their hilarious new rendition of the Ghostbusters theme song.

The Tonight Show host and his band teamed up with singer Ray Parker Jr. and none other than original Ghostbusters Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson during Friday’s episode to perform the 1984 hit using only miniature classroom instruments. And, naturally, they did it all while dressed in their own personalized jumpsuits in a neon green ectoplasm-encrusted room.

The group opened their set playing the track’s ominous intro entirely in the dark as alarms flashed behind them. When the song kicked into gear, the lights came on to reveal Fallon playing the kazoo and hitting a woodblock, Parker on the triangle, Murray on kazoo, and Hudson on the cowbell. Members of the Roots accompanied them on the xylophone, bongos, melodica, ukulele, tambourine, and who knows what else.

While Parker sang most of the theme on his own, the team often chimed in with legendary lyrics like “Bustin' makes me feel good!” and shouted “Ghostbusters!” in the call-and-response chorus.

At the end of their performance, everybody’s favorite ghost, Slimer, made a quick cameo, appearing behind the band and rushing toward the screen, covering it entirely in bright green ectoplasm.
