Former Pitt football star and Pennsylvania high school football All-American Paris Ford is wanted in Allegheny County in connection with a shooting, according to Pittsburgh Sports Now.

The site reported Tuesday that police “are actively searching” for Ford “with a warrant out for his arrest.” He has reportedly been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and one count of recklessly endangering another person.

The site reported that police say the incident took place on March 15 in Clairton. Police said they received a call at 11:40 a.m. of shots fired, and were told on the scene that a black Nissan Rogue carrying three males was seen leaving the area. Pittsburgh Sports Now reported that police said that Nissan was spotted a short time later, and after a high-speed chase, three men fled from the vehicle.

It reported that two of the men were arrested with the third — which police say was Ford — getting away. The site said footage appears to show Ford exiting the vehicle “carrying a black semi-automatic pistol.” It said a pistol was also found on the scene, and that gun came back as belonging to Ford. After the men excited the vehicle, Pittsburgh Sports Now said, the Nissan again took off before crashing. The site said that police found a prescription bottle inside of the vehicle with Ford’s name on it.

Ford was an All-State player his senior season at Steel Valley and was named an Under Armour All-American. He signed with Pitt in the Class of 2016 and entered the NFL Draft following the 2020 season.

He went unpicked but signed with the Los Angeles Rams as a free agent in 2021. He played with the USFL’s New Jersey Generals in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
