‘Comedy in the Dev’

Comedy Brewers will perform in “Comedy in the Dev” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St.

Similar in style to “Whose Line is it Anyway,” the Comedy Brewers put o​n an improv comedy show where each performance is unique and made up on the spot from audience suggestions. Seasoned improv comedians from Fort Collins promise a fast, funny and highly interactive show.

Trout Fishing Expo

​The Rocky Mountain Flycasters 2024 Trout Fishing Expo will take place at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the First National Bank Exhibition Hall, 5280 Arena Circle.

There will be speakers, exhibitors, a silent auction, rods to cast and compare, and casting and fly tying for kids.

The event is a fundraiser for the group, and is open  to all men, women and families interested in trout fishing.

Tickets for adults are $15 in advance or $25 the day of the event. Students, veterans and first responders are $10 and ages 10 and under are free.

Print Shop Open House

A  Print Shop Open House will be held at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 23 at the Beet Education Center, 201 E. Fifth St.

As a part of the Month of Printmaking (Mo’Print) the Print Shop at the Beet Education Center will be open to the public. Bring a block to print, bring prints to trade, or a portfolio to share.

Archaeology Show

Loveland Archaeological Society will hold its annual spring show at 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Thomas McKee 4-H Building at The Ranch, 5260 Arena Circle.

The event features displays of artifacts and Native American culture, and there will be a free identification table.

Admission is free.

The group’s next meeting will be at 6:30-9 p.m. May 7 in the Oak Room at the Chilson Recreation Center, 700 E. Fourth St.

‘Christ in the Passover’

Foundations Church, 1380 N. Denver Ave., Loveland, will host a “Christ in the Passover” Seder Experience at 6 p.m. Monday, March 25.

Rabbi Jack Zimmerman from Jewish Voice Ministries will demonstrate the link between the Jewish feast of Passover and the last supper Jesus shared with His disciples.

The program will include an explanation of the symbolism of the Jewish ceremony called a seder, weaving the story of the exodus and freedom from slavery together with the messianic hope realized in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.

Jewish or not, religious or not, all are welcome.

AAUW Program

American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hear a program on “Celebrating Women’s History and International Women’s Day by Promoting Justice for Women Worldwide” when the group meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 25, at First United Methodist Church, 533 N. Grant Ave.​

Sosamma Samuel-Burnett, the founder and president of GLOBAL Justice will give the program.

All are welcome to attend, and should meet in the vestibule of the church.

The mission of AAUW is to advance gender equity for women and girls through research, education and advocacy.

AAUW members are in the process of raising money for scholarships for women in Loveland​ and Berthoud through its annual flower sale. Orders must be placed by March 25.

For those with sunny locations there are geraniums in baskets and gallon and quart-size containers in a variety of colors; and for shady locations there are begonias.

All flowers are grown by a family-owned Larimer County nursery.

Teen Job Search Tips

​A Jump Start Your Job Search program aimed at ages 14-21 ​will be offered at 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, March 18-19, at the Loveland Public Library, 300 N. Adams Ave., Loveland, in the Erion Room.​

​Young people can spend some of their spring break to sharpen ​t​heir job search tools​, with topics including ​resume building, interviewing, personal branding ​a​nd financial planning basics.

The content covered during the workshops will help prepare ​t​hem for a Spring Employment Event on March 23.

Lunch will be provided for participants who register for and attend full​-day sessions.

Native Plants

A program on Native Plants of Colorado: Gardening for Pollinators and the Planet will be presented by a member of the Colorado Native Plant Society at 11 a.m.-noon Monday, March 25, at the Loveland Public Library, 300 N. Adams Ave.

Learn about how you can add native plants to your existing or new garden. Native plants attract local pollinators and provide habitat for birds and other critters, while requiring less water, fertilizer, and maintenance than traditional horticultural plants.

Attendees will be able to take home some native plants, seeds and information related to local and online resources.

Mindfulness Class

A class on Mindfulness and Positive Psychology will be offered at 2-3 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at the Loveland Public Library, 300 N. Adams Ave., in the Gertrude Scott Meeting Room.

Learn about the power of mindfulness combined with positive psychology to create better health, well-being, and inner strength, and learn guided practices during class that you can take home with you.

The class is taught by Deanna O’Connell, UCHealth registered dietitian and mindfulness practitioner.

Author Meet and Greet

A Photographer and Author Meet and Greet with Debbie Bentley will take place at 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Barnes & Noble, 5835 Sky Pond Drive.

Bentley is author/photographer of “Dammed: Birth to Death of the Colorado River,” a culmination of a multi-year research and photography project documenting the Colorado River from Headwaters to Mexico.

The book focuses on the 16 dams on the main stem, and effects of the dams and current impacts and condition of the system.

Eggcellent Adventure

Eggcellent Adventure will take place at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Natural Grocers,  745 N. Lincoln Ave.

The event will include a kids’ egg hunt and coloring station, and adults can search for a dozen golden eggs hidden throughout the store, with chances to win gift cards of $10 and one of $50.

‘Big Fish’

OpenStage Theatre & Company will perform “Big Fish” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Lincoln Center, 417 W. Magnolia St.

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, “Big Fish – Small Cast Edition,” tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to the fullest. Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him — most of all, his devoted wife, Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales of mermaids and giants.

Bring the Power Social

Project Self-Sufficiency of Northern Colorado will hold its annual Bring the Power Social at 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 22, at  Canvas Stadium – Stadium Club, 751 W. Pitkin St.

The event will feature music by local singer/songwriter-guitarist Branden Sipes, with hors d’oeuvres and drinks.

Project Self-Sufficiency will celebrate the achievements of single parents in their journey toward educational and career success, and showcase its mission to the community.

The goal for the event is to raise $98,000, which will contribute significantly to supporting single parents and their families on their journey to self-sufficiency.

5K Color Run

The International 5K Color Run will take place at 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Oval at Colorado State University.

The fun run/walk will be held in partnership with CSU’s Indian Students Association to coincide with the annual Hindu celebration of Holi, which honors colors, love, and spring.

All proceeds will benefit the international enrollment scholarship funds to help students achieve their goal of studying at Colorado State University. Cost is $25  for the general public and $10 for kids and CSU students.

Pet Adoption Event

Animal Friends Alliance, which has received a $20,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to help prepare more pets in Northern Colorado for adoption, will hold a a pet adoption event at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at  PetSmart Fort Collins, 4432 S. College Ave.

The event is part of National Adoption Week, taking place March 18-24.

‘Come From Away’

Artwork Sought

Town of Windsor Museums is seeking regional artists to submit their artwork for the 10th annual community art exhibition, “Free for All.”

Artists of all ages, abilities, styles and mediums are invited to celebrate a decade of community creativity with their unique creations.

Artists will compete for first, second, third and community choice awards of $150, $75, $50 and $75, respectively. The top visual artworks and top poems will be recognized.

The exhibition runs Sept. 14 through Nov. 18 at the Windsor Art & Heritage Center, 116 Fifth St., at noon-4 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.

An opening ceremony and awards reception will be held at 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.

Admission to the reception and exhibit are free of charge.

Entry is free and all forms of artwork and poetry will be considered. Each artist may submit up to three items for consideration for the exhibition.
