Woman accused of attacking aunt

A 24-year-old Odessa woman was arrested Monday night following a fight with her aunt that police believe may leave the older woman’s face permanently disfigured.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers received a disturbance call around 9:30 p.m. Monday from the 2900 block of Park Boulevard.

When police arrived, they found a 45-year-old woman completely drenched in blood and covering her face. According to the report, the woman said her 70-year-old mother and 67-year-old father called her to the house because her niece (their granddaughter) was drunk and trying to fight the elderly man.

The woman told officers that when she arrived, her niece, Emily Roque, swung and hit her and during the subsequent battle, they both fell to the ground. According to the report, the woman said she struck a metal fence pole with her face and head.

The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for a laceration roughly 11 centimeters long on her face, the report stated.

According to the report, Roque didn’t make much sense to the officers when they tried to talk to her and at one point was screaming and yelling from the front porch.

Roque was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault causing seriously bodily injury and public intoxication.

She remained in the Ector County jail Tuesday night on a $20,000 surety bond.
