VOTE: The News-Press Athlete of the Week presented by Babcock Ranch for March 4-9
Each week, The News-Press staff will select one finalist in each high school sport. Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed by Lee County’s coaches during the week to sports@news-press.com. Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine who the Athlete of the Week will be.
The poll will be posted at news-press.com each Monday, and voting will end at 10 a.m. Thursday each week.

Last week, Cypress Lake lacrosse player Stirling Spinks won with 40% of the vote.
The winner will be announced on the @newspresssports Instagram page and on Twitter at @nphssports. The winning athlete will receive a shirt courtesy of BSN Sports.

Boys track
Thiago Lopes, Fort Myers
Lopes was a double winner at the Edison Relays on Friday, taking first place in the 110 and 400 hurdles.
Girls track
Jazlyn Forbes, Oasis
Forbes came in first in both the 1600 and 3200-meter races at the Lady Viking Classic on Thursday.
Baseball
Case Bowman, Estero
Bowman had 3 hits, including two doubles, and 4 RBI last week, helping the Wildcats to wins against Gateway and South Fort Myers. He was the winning pitcher with 5 strikeouts against Gateway.
Softball
Mia Lane, North Fort Myers
Lane smacked 3 home runs last week, including two in a 13-10 win against Lakewood Ranch. She totaled 8 hits and 7 RBI in three wins for the Red Knights.
Girls lacrosse
Kiarah Getchell, Estero
Getchell scored 5 goals for the Wildcats in a 20-3 win against Estero on Tuesday. She also scored 3 goals in a 9-8 win against Cape Coral on Monday.
Boys tennis
Fabio Ronda-Vigoa, Mariner
Ronda-Vigoa notched wins at No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles to help lift the Tritons to a 6-1 win against Ida Baker on Thursday.
Girls tennis
Richelle Britto, Fort Myers
Britto won her matches at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles to help the Green Wave edge Riverdale for a 4-3 victory on Tuesday.
