Two people were killed in a fiery crash in Cape Coral on Sunday night. According to Cape Coral police, the three-vehicle crash happened on Del Prado Boulevard at SE 40th Street, near Coronado Parkway, shortly before 9 p.m.NBC2 crews could see severe damage to both vehicles after the crash as firefighters recovered two bodies from one of the vehicles.According to the Cape Coral Police Department, the driver of a vehicle heading north on Del Prado Blvd. turned left, into the path of two other vehicles heading south.One of those vehicles heading south swerved around the other before slamming into the passenger side of the one crossing Del Prado, causing it to flip onto its roof along the southbound sidewalk. The vehicle struck a cement light pole and became fully engulfed in flames.The driver and passenger of that vehicle were declared deceased at the scene.The driver of one of the other vehicles was taken to Gulf Coast Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver and passenger of the third were uninjured.CCPD said the crash was not alcohol/drug related, but speed was a factor.The roadway was closed for about seven hours during the investigation. All lanes have since reopened. Police have not released the names of the people who died.
