Former Player Has Trade Idea for Steelers
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly "doing their due diligence" on the wide receiver trade market, sparking many people's interest in acquiring San Francisco 49ers' star Brandon Aiyuk. While it's likely going to take a decent exchange to land the All-Pro, one former player has an idea of how it can happen.
During a recent episode of his podcast, former Steelers lineman Ramon Foster threw out the idea of trading a current lineman for Aiyuk.
"Dan [Moore Jr.] can be used as draft capital," Foster said. "He could be sent over in a package if you looking at San Francisco. How much longer can Trent Williams go? He’s a left tackle with that style of offense, getting the ball in and out as quick as they do. Dan’s a big athlete. I’m petitioning for a dude to go to another team and I like Dan, but it makes sense. If you’re telling me, ‘We’ll send you a four and Dan Moore.’ If he doesn’t want to play right, you send him to a team that has an expiring left tackle."
The 49ers reportedly asked for a first-round pick (No. 17) and wide receiver Zay Jones from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for Aiyuk this offseason.
The Steelers hold the 20th pick, but if they're giving up their starting left tackle as well, they may be able to make it work.
As for how they'd replace Moore, they could turn to second-year player Spencer Anderson, who has experience at all five offensive line positions. The seventh-round pick impressed last training camp, enough so to make the 53-man roster. With Broderick Jones moving back to the left side, it may be an option for Pittsburgh.
