As implied, the 765LT is a McLaren 750S with a longer tail and slightly more power from the British automaker's well-known V8 engine. 765 designates metric horsepower, meaning 755 mechanical ones.
A very rare breed, the 765LT was produced between 2020 and 2023 in 765 units for the coupe and an additional 765 for the spider, bringing the total to 1,530 examples of the breed. The coupe in the video below may feature Vorsteiner wheels, X Comp rubber, and one too many stickers, but from the standpoint of the oily bits, it's as stock as it can be.

Mike's V8-powered supercar has to prove itself against Ronnie's heavily modified Eagle Talon, which allegedly makes 800 horsepower. Produced for the 1990 through 1994 model years by the Diamond Star Motors joint venture between Chrysler and Japanese automaker Mitsubishi, the hatchback-bodied compact was available with Mitsubishi's 1.8-liter 4G37 and the 2.0-liter 4G63.

Had it been stock, the all-wheel-drive Talon owned by Ronnie would have cranked out 190 horsepower and 203 pound-feet (275 Nm). Gifted with a four-speed automatic topped by a B&M shifter, the front-biased Talon rocks 15-inch drag wheels, Hoosier drag radials, a parachute, and a Wilwood brake kit sourced from the good folks at Antilag Racing.

Further standing out in the crowd with the help of a full cage, lightweight seats, and nitrous oxide for good measure, this car definitely isn't for the faint of heart. Ronnie fights the rear end while racing against the 765LT over 1,000 feet (305 meters), but on both occasions, he keeps it under control.

It's hard to believe how quick that Eagle is off the line, and it's even harder to believe that Ronnie smoked Mike by two car lengths. The second race was a bit closer because Mike got the hit and started one car length ahead of Ronnie. Even so, the Talon made easy work of the much pricier 765LT.

Twinned with the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Plymouth Laser, the Eagle Talon was discontinued in 1998 after two generations. The Eagle brand was dropped that year as well, whereas Plymouth followed suit in 2001. Chrysler also went through a number of huge changes from the 1990s to the present day, including the DaimlerChrysler era, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and – since 2021 – the merger with Groupe PSA that spawned Stellantis N.V.

Woking-based McLaren Cars, as in the company that gave us the F1, was discontinued in favor of McLaren Automotive in 2010. The MP4-12C packed a twin-turbo V8 well before Ferrari ditched the free-breathing engine of the 458 for a force-fed unit in the 488. The Huracan's successor will also get a twin-turbo V8, but with a plug-in twist.

Electrification may be the biggest priority of every automaker out there, yet McLaren couldn't make a case for a hybridized twin-turbocharged V8 in the 750S. The replacement of the 720S took inspiration from the 765LT for many things, but as opposed to the track-oriented Long Tail, the 750S is that little bit easier to live with on a daily basis.
