Guildford’s new £150million development is underway, and making its mark on the town’s landscape. New housing, a shopping plaza and station building are planned for the area.

While construction started several years ago, recent building work has become slightly more visible with the building of a large grey tower just off Walnut Tree Close. The summit can be seen peeking through the rooftops from multiple vantage points.

The tower is part of the large-scale building work planned for this year. The development, spearheaded by Solum Regeneration and is scheduled to see the completion of a multi-storey car park as well as the start of the new block.

Once finished, the site will be home to 438 homes, shopping and office space and a different station environment. Solum Regeneration say that plans will create more than 300 jobs and plenty of more cycling and car parking space.

Currently work on the new station is meant to begin in 2025. The development is meant to bring a double height ticket hall aimed at accommodating an increase in passengers. Additionally the site will also include a new shopping plaza the size of a rugby pitch, and is set to become home to retail spots as well as eateries.
