For a limited number of volunteers, helping clean up beaches in the Gulf Shores area can be the path to earning a free pass to the 2024 Hangout Music Festival. The festival also is offering an opportunity to win a Super VIP trip for two.
On Tuesday, March 12, the festival will announce details of its 2024 Earn-A-Ticket program. Among other things, the program requires participants to take part in a Fort Morgan beach clean-up effort organized by the Alabama Coastal Foundation. Those wanting a jump on the limited number of positions available can sign up online at www.propeller.la.
Participants cannot directly earn a pass by participating in the cleanup: They earn points, which can be redeemed through Hangout partner organization Propeller. Propeller describes itself as a for-profit public benefit corporation that seeks to promote positive social changes by overcoming some of the traditional limitations of nonprofits and business entities.
The Super VIP sweepstakes also is being offered through Propeller. It uses a points system to award chances in a May 1 drawing. Participants can earn points by a variety of methods. These include joining the REFORM Alliance, an organization working to change parole and probation laws; signing a petition opposing anti-LGBTQ+ laws; buying T-shirts from partner organizations such as the Alabama Coastal Foundation and The Haven no-kill animal shelter; or making donations to the ACF, The Haven or the Human Rights Campaign.
The Super VIP prize includes air travel and lodging and is valued at $9,000. The full rules include a method of entering the sweepstakes without making a donation.
