The success of the Katt Williams interview has catapulted “Club Shay Shay” into the mainstream. The podcast hosted by NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe isn’t specifically a sports show—he’s booked more entertainers lately—but that doesn’t seem to matter to the iHeartPodcast Awards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, on Monday, “Club Shay Shay” took home the trophy for best sports podcast.
To celebrate the show’s big win, we’re looking back at some of its most unforgettable guests and moments, and you know exactly where we’re starting.
Katt Williams
We could’ve made this whole list about the craziest moments from Katt Williams’ interview. In fact, there were so many, they can’t really be narrowed down to one. He accused Cedric the Entertainer of stealing one of his most famous jokes, called Kevin Hart an industry plant and took a flamethrower to Steve Harvey’s entire career. He launched a series of wild attacks on several other comedians in an interview that reached 40 million views.
While there have been plenty of other controversial moments from “Club Shay Shay,” none of them comes close to the chaos Williams caused.
Mo’Nique
Oscar winner Mo’Nique has never been shy about expressing her frustrations with Hollywood and how she’s been treated by some of its most powerful names. She used her time on “Club Shay Shay” to once again call out Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry for allegedly blackballing her. She also called out Tiffany Haddish for not supporting her during her Netflix boycott, accused Kevin Hart of ghosting her when they were allegedly going to work together and reaffirmed her long-standing feud with D.L. Hughley.
Where Katt Williams’ appearance was littered with wild claims that made parts of it unbelievable, Mo’Nique’s interview was the no holds barred affair that you only get from someone who doesn’t care about playing the Hollywood game.
Steve Stoute
The former music executive sent shockwaves through the hip-hop world when he discussed the downfall of Roc-A-Fella and the split between Jay-Z and Dame Dash.
“Jay grew up, Jay wanted more. I think Jay saw Dame’s ceiling and I think that’s really what it was. He wanted more,” Stoute told Sharpe on the podcast.
This caused Dame to respond on Instagram writing, “This is the reason I had to smack the shit out of @stevestoute a couple years ago…because he’s always speaking on other men’s business.”
Obviously, hip-hop fans want all the behind-the-scenes rumors, but is it really Stoute’s place to reveal those secrets? Considering that Jay-Z has clearly moved on, maybe these two should as well?
Dwyane Wade
For the most part, the NBA Hall of Famer’s appearance was pretty mild. He and Shannon had a good laugh about the reaction to his wife Gabrielle Union’s “50/50” comments about their finances.
The biggest bombshell came when the former Miami Heat star revealed that he tried to break up with Union early in their relationship when he told her he fathered a child with another woman.
“And so it came to a point where, yeah, [I told her] way before [it became public]. And I tried to pussyfoot around it. I tried to break up with her,” Wade told Sharpe. “You know, ‘Things have been bad lately. We been having a little distance in our relationship anyway.’ Like, I tried all that. She kept showing up. And so it hasn’t been perfect, it will never be perfect. But that was nine years ago.”
Union and Wade have been so open about their relationship, this revelation about one of their toughest times was shocking. It also pointed to the strength of their marriage, as they were able to make it through the storm.
