GAELIC folk-rockers Manran, West Highland dance band Skipinnish and electro-trad trio The League of Highland Gentlemen headline the Best of the West festival in Inveraray, Argyllshire on September 10 and 11. Held in Inveraray Castle grounds the event champions traditional music and local produce including food, whisky and ale and a team of Scottish and international chefs will be on hand to provide the catering in situ. Free entertainment for children is available and admission is free for children under eight.

CANADIAN singer-songwriter Jane Siberry makes a rare appearance in Scotland when she plays at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on Friday, September 16. A prolific composer, record producer and poet, Siberry duetted with k d lang on the soundtrack to Wim Wenders’ Until The End Of The World and has collaborated on record with Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, Nigel Kennedy, Indigo Girls, and Joe Jackson. She also participated on Time & Love, the all-star celebration of the late Laura Nyro’s music, alongside Roseann Cash, Phoebe Snow, the Roches and Sweet Honey in the Rock. She will be supported in Edinburgh by Carol Laula and the concert begins at 7:30pm.
