SIOUX CENTER—An 18-year-old Sioux Center resident was arrested about 11:20 p.m. Friday, March 22, on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence and first-offense possession/purchase of alcohol under legal age.
The arrest of Kaase Jan Van Niejenhuis stemmed from the stop of a 2005 Chevrolet Impala for an expired license plate on Seventh Street Northeast near 11th Avenue Northeast in Sioux Center, according to the Sioux Center Police Department.
Van Niejenhuis showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, according to the incident report.
An open container and a closed container of Twisted Tea were found in the vehicle.
