Harrison County also denies permits for Spring Break events

Permits for activities on the beach during Black Spring Break Weekend next month may not happen.

Harrison County Sand Beach and the sheriff’s office sent an email memo to Biloxi Police Chief John Miller, who read it to the Biloxi City Council during Tuesday’s meeting, saying that because the special events committee denied a permit to Spring Break organizers for the Shuler Property at 2450 Beach Boulevard, they were denying permits for amplified sound and commercial activity.

The memo finished with the statement: “We wish to stress the beach is open to the public. However, in the interest of public safety, we are not granting any permits for commercial activity.”

The memo was electronically signed by Trey Knight of Harrison County Sand Beach Department.

Spring Break organizers are appealing Biloxi’s decision at the April 2nd city council meeting.
