Cristyn Smith-Thomas, 34, also charged with assaulting a police officer

A 34-year-old woman was arrested Saturday morning after a stand-off with police responding to a report of domestic violence, court documents said.Once Cristyn J. Smith was taken into custody by the Albuquerque Police Department, she was charged with aggravated assault of a household member with a deadly weapon, battery of a household member, battery of a police officer, negligent use of a deadly weapon, and attempting to escape. Smith was arrested and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center, the documents said.The apartment building manager told an APD officer that Smith's boyfriend had texted him that Smith fired a gun and punched him in the face. The boyfriend later told the officer Smith had fired the gun into the ceiling more than once, the documents said.Smith barricaded herself in the apartment, accompanied by another woman. She was eventually arrested and taken to Lovelace Hospital to be medically evaluated, but was able to remove her handcuffs and leave the ambulance. Moments later, she was caught and handcuffed again, the documents said.The court documents also that while Smith was in custody, she allegedly kicked an APD officer in the chest. In addition to the other charges brought against her, there was also a felony warrant out for her arrest.
