DEL MAR, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has been added to the concert lineup for this summer’s San Diego County Fair.

Double Hollywood Walk of Fame member Smokey Robinson, who’s known for his R&B and soul music, was announced as the 12th headliner for the series this week. He’s scheduled to take the Corona Grandstand Stage at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Wednesday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m.

This year’s fair theme is “Let’s Go Retro!” and the Toyota Summer Concert Series features bands and musicians whose careers spanned multiple decades — credentials held by Smokey Robinson, who has hits dating back to the 50s, 60s and 70s.

The artist was the frontman for the group The Miracles, later becoming Smokey Robinson & The Miracles in 1965. He was the chief songwriter and producer of their 22 albums and smash top ten hits.
