DA: Man fatally shot at his home in East Greenville

Shooter identified; authorities say incident was ‘domestic in nature’

NORRISTOWN — Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and East Greenville Borough Police Chief Randy Morris on Friday announced an investigation into a shooting death at a residence in the 200 block of Jefferson Street in East Greenville.

The victim was identified as 42-year-old Derek Sherer of the same address.

At 8:11 a.m., on Friday, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the residence for a domestic dispute.

Troopers arrived to find Sherer deceased from a gunshot wound in front of the residence.

East Greenville Borough Police and Montgomery County Detectives, with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police, have launched a joint homicide investigation.

The shooter remained on scene and is cooperating with law enforcement.

The initial investigation found that the incident is domestic in nature, and there is no danger to the public at this time.
