Pete Davidson has put the kibosh on “Bupkis.”
The former “Saturday Night Live” star announced Thursday that the second season of his semi-autobiographical Peacock series will not go forward as previously planned.
“I’ve always seen ‘Bupkis’ as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family,” he said in a statement to multiple outlets. “After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media, I wanted a chance to tell my story my way.”
“Of all the work I’ve ever done, ‘Bupkis’ is by far what I’m most proud of,” the 30-year-old Staten Island native added. “[But] I do also feel that this part of my life is finished. I’m very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful.”
The half-hour series was reportedly set to begin filming its second season in New York this summer.
Premiering in May 2023, “Bupkis” was described as “a heightened, fictionalized version of Davidson’s real life, combining grounded storytelling with absurd elements from the unfiltered and completely original worldview for which Pete is well known.” It quickly garnered a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series marked the “King of Staten Island” star’s first foray into television following the end of his longtime stint on “SNL” the year before.
Edie Falco and Joe Pesci starred as Davidson’s mother and grandfather, while Kenan Thompson, Ray Romano, John Mulaney, Jane Curtin, La La Anthony and Machine Gun Kelly were tapped for guest appearances.
