JOPLIN, MO — The 8th ranked Missouri Southern Lions defeated the Washburn Ichabods, 3-0, to earn the game one victory of their 3-game series.

After a scoreless 3 innings, the Lions finally got on the scoreboard in the 4th after Wyatt Morgan singled to right field to give them the lead 1-0.

Missouri Southern added two more runs in the 5th, thanks to a RBI-single by Will Doherty and a Sac-Fly by Treghan Parker.

Cole Gayman was dominant on the mound once again as he earned the win.

8.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 7 strikeouts was the stat line for Gayman tonight.

The Webb City native picked up his 7th win of the year to improve to 7-0 on the season.

Reliever Kyle Moore picked up his 5th save of the season after he struck out two batters in the 9th and didn’t allow a hit or a run.

The Lions improve to 25-5 on the season and are now 12-2 in conference.

Game two of the 3-game series will be tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Warren Turner Field where the Lions will look to clinch the series.
