One person was killed in an overnight crash that knocked out power to parts of Cape Coral.According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old man driving a red Subaru was speeding along Nicholas Parkway. The driver was unable to follow the curve and jumped the grassy median before crashing into a metal signpost and hitting another car. The car then hit a utility pole. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of this crash. electricity went out in the area. Electricity has since been fully restored, and Nicholas Parkway in Cape Coral is now open in both directions following last night's deadly crash.LCEC worked overnight to restore power. Witnesses in the vicinity reported that the vehicle caught fire on impact, breaking the utility pole it struck into three pieces. Another vehicle then drove into the downed power lines.
