Bucyrus' Bayless, Wynford's McGuire named special mention All-Ohio in Division III

COLUMBUS - Rivals on the court shared All-Ohio honors in Division III.

The Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association announced its annual teams highlighting the best of the best in Ohio, and a pair of seniors from Bucyrus and Wynford were named special mention.

Malachi Bayless just wrapped up arguably the greatest individual career the Bucyrus boys basketball program has ever seen becoming the first 1,000-point scorer, ever, and finishing with the most (45) and second-most (44) points in a single game. He averaged 19.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.3 blocks per game while shooting 57.3% from the field, 43.5% from 3-point range with 54 makes, and 73.5% from the free throw line.

Grant McGuire was one of the most consistent players around averaging 12.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 steals shooting 40.9% from the field earning All-Ohio honors on the court for the second consecutive season. It's his fourth all-state nod having been named first team All-Ohio in baseball as a sophomore and junior.
