On Saturday, March 2, Tedeschi Trucks Band closed out their 2024 Beacon Theatre run. The New York City finale saw nods to The Allman Brothers Band, including choice numbers during the night’s second set. Notably, Derek Trucks was a part of ABB’s final stand at the favored Big Apple location in 2014. Last night’s setlist included song overlaps with the decade-past concert, making for a special Big Apple conclusion.

The weekend show started with a power-energy take on Joe Cocker’s original, “Woman to Woman,” followed by a slate of originals plucked from albums Let Me Get By and I am The Moon. Next, the band touched on a grouping of material from other projects including Derek and the Dominos and The Derek Trucks Band, as well as a lone cover of Mike Mattison’s “Life is Crazy.”

Following a set break, TTB returned and cut into Blind Willie McTell’s “Statesboro Blues.” They turned back to their original archive, adding “Don’t Let Me Slide” and “Part of Me,” followed by a stunning delivery of Aretha Franklin’s “It Ain’t Fair,” which bled over into the first ABB cover of the night, the Gregg Allman penned “Dreams.” Keeping the crowd’s energy at an all-time high, they added Jerry Garcia’s “Sugaree” and Wet Willie’s “Keep on Smilin’.”

Continuing with odes to Truck’s Allman ties and the Peach State band’s Beacon history, Tedeschi Trucks Band added “Little Martha” and paired the tune with “Swamp Raga,” which ran into “Midnight in Harlem.” For the final songs of the second set, TBB provided a sequence of “I Want More” into Blind Faith’s “Presence of The Lord” and Jeff Beck’s “Beck’s Bolero.”

The night’s encore yielded the Leon Russell original “A Song for You,” original “Soul Sweet Song,” and one last borrowed number, Matthew Moore’s “Space Captain.” Following the band’s New York City residency, they will take a couple of days off the road before starting up a three-night stand at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., March 5 through 7. Tickets remain on sale and can be purchased here
