The 2011 RBS 6 Nations kicked off in official style today with Scotland Women’s captain, Susie Brown, at the launch in London. In the first of her Captain’s Blogs, Susie gives us the lowdown on the event – from Big Al to Brian Moore’s mouth! Wednesday saw the official launch of the Six Nations 2011 with representatives from all the participating nations coming along to the Hurlingham Club in London for a round of photographs and press interviews. This was the first opportunity I’ve had to meet Scotland men’s captain, Al Kellock. What a guy and what a height! It was great to get some shots together and to ask him about their preparation for the Six Nations.   With our game against England being played at Twickenham as a double header, our media were keen to get myself and Al and Katy McLean (England Women’s captain) and Lewis Moody together. All was going well until we had to take the mean and moody shots which involved us almost nose to nose staring each other out. We managed this for a few frames before Lewis lost it, sending Katy and I into a fit of giggles. I am keeping my fingers crossed they got one decent photo to use as the match is an incredible opportunity to promote women’s rugby. The RFU are expecting a crowd of 20,000 for the women’s game and we are hoping that will include plenty of Scots who are keen to sing the anthem one more time! I was also asked to take part in Rugby World’s head-to-head quiz where I was pitted against Katy McLean and we were tested on our knowledge of women’s rugby and our nations. I am looking forward to buying the mid-Six Nations edition to find out who took the honours!I also got the opportunity to meet the Scrum V guys and asked them about their ‘Passing the ball through Brian Moore’s mouth challenge’. Apparently Ryan Jones is still the man to beat with 12 from 24. I was offered a go but, much to my disappointment, the taxi then arrived to take me to the station. Maybe next time lads? France away as our first fixture is a massively exciting prospect. They are without doubt my favourite opposition to play away from home as they really know how to host a game and always have a large crowd as their women’s team is massively popular in France. They are a skilful side full of individuals who like to run the ball and it will be a stern test for us. This will be my sixth Six Nations but I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about getting one underway – roll on Friday 4 February!
