Edmonton piano teacher charged with sexual assault

Edmonton police say a 59-year-old piano teacher has been charged with sexual assault.

EPS says on March 14 they received a report that a 10-year-old girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted by her piano teacher on multiple occasions.

“The assaults reportedly took place during piano lessons while the child’s mother was in another part of the house,” said EPS in a statement.

Police say 59-year-old Cassius Alleyne has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

He has since been released with conditions, including not having contact or communication with anyone under 16-years-old, and not attending any public swimming area, school, daycare, playground, youth shelter, or public library.

Police say Alleye has been teaching piano to children and adults for seven years, and usually conducts them in the homes of his students. Investigators believe there may be other victims.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
