Lucky lottery player in North Carolina won $1 million, was it you?

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — If you played Mega Millions on Tuesday, you may want to check your ticket.

NC Lottery officials say someone purchased a $2 Mega Millions ticket online in Fayetteville and won $1 million.

The big prize was one of two won nationally in Tuesday’s drawing, with the other lucky winner in Massachusetts. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are one in 12.6 million.

Three other big wins occurred in North Carolina during Tuesday’s drawing. All three $2 tickets matched four of the five white balls and the yellow Mega Ball to win $10,000. Those wins occurred:

  • At the Han-Dee Hugo’s on Buffaloe Road in Raleigh

  • In Asheville using Online Play

  • At the Smoker Friendly on Pinewood Plaza Drive in Granite Falls

The winners have 180 days to claim their prizes.

Since no one won Tuesday’s jackpot, lottery officials predict Friday’s jackpot will rise to $792 million. That’d rank as the sixth-largest Mega Millions jackpot in history.
