‘A lawyer is a lifeline — and lawyers are for life, not just Christmas’

A campaigning lawyer who represented Cherie Blair KC’s stepmother is taking on Camden council for actions that she claims discriminate against older and less able residents.

Jessica Learmond-Criqui, 59, who runs a boutique employment and business immigration law firm with her husband in north London, has started an online petition on behalf of those she calls the “forgotten of Camden”.

Learmond-Criqui is “dismayed by the damaging effect” that she claims the council’s “discriminatory” policies regarding parking, cycle paths, restricting vehicular traffic near schools and digital access to information have on older and less able residents.

She says the policies breach the council’s public sector equality duties and ignore the needs of many residents who, she says, feel disenfranchised and are prevented from leading a normal
