PACCAR, Hyundai, Ford, Honda, Tesla among 165k vehicles recalled: Check car recalls here

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including notices for at least 116,000 Peterbilt and Kenworth semi-trucks because of improper crimped connectors in the gear shifter.

Hyundai recall for engine compartment fire

Hyundai is recalling 28,439 of its 2018-2020 Genesis G80, 2017-2022 G90, and 2019-2022 G70 vehicles. The left turbocharger oil feed pipe may deteriorate and leak oil. An engine compartment fire can occur if an oil leak happens near hot engine components, according to a report from the NHTSA.

If your vehicle is listed in the recall, the dealer will replace the left turbocharger oil feed pipe. This service will be done for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent on May 7. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 019G.

Ford recall for rearview camera image not displaying

Ford is recalling 1,988 of its 2020 Explorer vehicles. A poor electrical connection in the SUV can cause the rearview camera to display a blank or distorted image. When a driver cannot see the images displayed on the rearview camera properly, this can increase the risk of a crash, the NHTSA report said.

According to the report, the Explorers fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

For free, Ford dealers will replace the affected rearview camera. Notification letters are expected to be delivered by April 8. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20C19.

Ford recall for child safety lock malfunction

Ford is recalling 9,847 of its 2023-2024 Bronco 4-door vehicles. The motor company said the left-side rear door may be opened from the inside of the vehicle when the child safety has been shifted to “on.”  This malfunction can enable the affected rear door to be opened without warning. This can lead to an increase risk of injury, according to a report from the NHTSA.

Mechanics will conduct an inspection of the vehicle for defective child safety locks. The locks will be replaced for free. Notification letters are expected to be sent on April 16. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S15.

Jaguar recall for battery that might overheat

Jaguar is recalling 258 of its 2019 I-Pace vehicles. The company revealed that the high-voltage battery may overheat. An overheated battery increases the risk of a fire, the NHSTA reported.

At the time the NHTSA report was released, Jaguar was still working through a remedy to fix the issue. Owners are advised to park and charge their vehicles outside and away from any buildings. They should only charge their vehicles to a maximum 75% until the company issues a formal repair method. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by April 26. Owners may contact Jaguar's customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is H484.

Honda recall for steering malfunction

Honda is recalling 245 if its 2023 Passport and Ridgeline vehicles. The inner ball joint housing in the steering gearbox assembly may loosen and detach from the steering rack. As a result, a driver will lose control of the steering wheel which increases the risk of a crash, the NHTSA said.

For free, dealers will inspect and replace the steering gearbox. Notification letters are expected to be mailed out on April 15. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is LHY.

Tesla recall for muted pedestrian warning sound

Tesla is issuing a recall over the pedestrian warning sound not working properly.

Tesla is recalling 6,557 of its 2013, 2018-2021 Model S, 2020-2021 Model X, 2018-2022 Model 3, and 2020-2022 Model Y vehicles. A factory reset muted the Pedestrian Warning System (PWS) sounds. If the PWS fails to make a noise, it will not alert the driver that a pedestrian is near the vehicle which could increase the risk of a crash, the NHTSA reported.  

According to the NHTSA report, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 141, "Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles."

To resolve the issue, Tesla has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, release 2023.44.30.14 for free. Notification letters will be sent out on April 27. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-006.

Chrysler recall for air bag malfunction

Chrysler is recalling right hand drive 2016 Jeep Wranglers over an air bag malfunction.

Chrysler is recalling 1,831 of its right hand drive 2016 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. According to the NHTSA report, debris contamination may cause the clockspring to fail, preventing the driver's air bag from deploying in a crash. A driver can be injured in a crash if an air does not deploy properly, the NHSTA said.

For free, dealers will replace the clockspring, steering wheel back cover, and steering column shrouds. Notification letters are expected to be sent on May 3. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 27B.

PACCAR recall for improper crimped connectors

Around 116,000 Peterbilt and Kenworth semi-trucks were recalled because of improperly crimped connectors in the gear shifter.

PACCAR is recalling 116,343 of its 2021-2024 Peterbilt, Kenworth, and 2021-2025 T680 trucks. According to the recall report, the right-hand gear shifter stalk connectors may have been improperly crimped. As a result, a loss of communication can occur between the gear shifter and the transmission. The semi-truck may become disabled increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA report.

If necessary, mechanics will inspect and replace the gear shifter assembly for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed out on May 7. Owners may contact Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 or Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220. PACCAR's numbers for this recall are 24PBE and 24KWE.
