The course begins with an introduction to the big themes and academic nature of the discipline. Subsequent sections will consider the academic development, key concepts, current issues and debates central to sub-disciplines within Human Geography, drawn from the 9 key research areas in the school.
By the end of the module students should be able to:
- Have achieved a basic understanding of the nature of human geography at degree level.
- Be able to identify some key themes and concepts within the human geographical sub-disciplines covered during the semester.
- Understand human geography as a discipline rooted in real-world issues.
