Real Madrid Could Receive $76 Million Arsenal Offer For Star Player, Reports OK Diario

Following

Premier League giant Arsenal is prepared to make a $76 million offer to Real Madrid for Brahim Diaz according to OK Diario, which cited anonymous sources.

Brahim has already played in England once after turning professional there at Manchester City in the mid-2010s.

It was hard for him to become a regular under Pep Guardiola, however, and on the cusp of his contract expiring, City was forced to accept a cut fee from Madrid for the now-24-year-old in 2019.

After a three-year loan at AC Milan where Brahim helped the Rossoneri win the Serie A title for the first time since 2011 and return to the Champions League semi-finals which they hadn't reached in 16 years, the attacker returned to the Bernabeu last summer.

In 2023/2024, he hasn't been able to find a fixed place in Carlo Ancelotti's first XI amid strong competition from Jude Bellingham in midfield and Rodrygo in a front two with Vinicius Jr.

Yet he has often done a sterling job off the bench or when a starter has been suspended, injured or in need of a rest with several important only goals of the game against Atletico Madrid in La Liga and RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Brahim netted a screamer in the last 16 first leg in Germany, to take a 1-0 win back to Spain, and that strike proved its weight in gold as Los Blancos battled to a 1-1 draw in second leg a week ago and were outclassed in the eyes of many on their way to the quarter-finals.

The number 21 has been in the headlines for different reasons altogether this week because of a decision to play international football for Morocco and not his birthland Spain which was commented on by La Roja boss Luis de la Fuente.

Elsewhere, though, OK Diario reports that Arsenal is willing to test Madrid's resolve to sell him with a $76 million offer that president Florentino Perez might be ready to entertain.

Accepting such a proposal would free up funds for pursuits of defenders Alphonso Davies and Leny Yoro in a summer that Kylian Mbappe is expected to arrive in the Spanish capital on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

If Mbappe does indeed join Carlo Ancelotti's first team squad, Brahim could see himself further squeezed out of the line up as might Rodrygo.
