The Gazette Record confirmed with sources that the US Bank plans to close its St. Maries Branch this year.
A press release sent to US Bank customers states the branch plans to close its doors as of June 11, 2024. According to the release, the closure of the branch will not affect accounts and there will be no interruption of service.
Staff at the St. Maries Branch will continue to see and support patrons at this time.
Regional Communications Manager for US Bank Jake Holtrop shared a response from the company about the closure which stated “clients received notification last week that the St. Maries branch would close on June 11, 2024. We understand that the closure of any branch is a disruption for our clients and our employees, and we are working to make the transition as smooth as possible for all involved. The closure of this branch will not affect client accounts and there will be no interruption of service.”
The statement points to changes in banking behaviors was one of the main reasons behind the closure.
“Client’s banking preferences and behaviors are changing, including a rapid migration toward digital and mobile banking platforms, and a desire for greater simplicity. As we evolve along with our clients, we are reevaluating our physical footprint, and in some instances, consolidating branch locations in select markets. Although we are closing some branches, we continue to open and enhance others, as well as rapidly enhancing our digital capabilities,” the statement said.
Holtrop confirmed that the bank’s ATM will also be discontinued on the closure date and that employees of the branch are encouraged to take remote positions with the company or take roles in nearby communities.
“Employees who wish to stay with the bank are encouraged to pursue other opportunities that may be available. This could include roles in other nearby communities like Pinehurst or Coeur d’Alene, as well as remote positions,” Holtrop said.
